Filinvest to hit P2-billion mark in sales of Davao projects

DAVAO CITY -- Gotianun-led Filinvest Land, Inc. (FLI) said revenues from its projects here might breach the P2-billion mark this year, as it starts to build another condominium under the One Oasis brand by the third quarter.

FLI, a unit of listed firm Filinvest Development Corp., is also scouting for new properties that will be developed into residential villages.

Tristan L. Las Marias, FLI first vice-president for the Visayas and Mindanao, said this year’s projected sales from its Davao operations were based on available condominium units and last year’s performance at P1.1 billion, up from the P700 million generated in 2013.

Growth in the Davao market outpaced those registered in other regions where FLI operates.

At the same time, Mr. Las Marias said the company began negotiations with lot owners following the visit of Josephine Gotianun-Yap, president of FLI.

“When she saw Davao, she thought ‘there are still so many things to do,’” Mr. Las Marias said at an event here on Tuesday.

He added that the company sees that the “housing segment will remain strong in real estate.”

FLI’s One Oasis complex here has five existing buildings and the sixth is scheduled for construction within the first half of the year.

All units in two of the buildings have been sold, according to Mr. Las Marias.

Meanwhile, the new condominium project planned for launch in the third quarter this year will have four to six buildings with five floors each.

“We are looking at whether we can increase it to seven (buildings)… The location is more prime. It is located near city hall and other government offices,” he added.

Homebuyers could begin moving in within two years.
